Plan in Motion

Things are now in motion. Over the last year we've been having difficulties with paying off our debts. Not that they are incredibly high or anything but they have not budged hardly in the last year and we would rather pay them off sooner than the 40+ year's it'd take by paying only minimums. Having lost my job about three months ago it has not helped in any way and has pushed us further into struggling with day to day finances. We've gotten to the point where we are struggling between paychecks and that is not the way we want to live.

Almost half way through...

I really should update this more often.

The year is half way through. I am jobless and collecting my unemployment checks - just like the other 10% of California. Things have certainly been tough these last few months and there will be some major changes in the next year or so. I'll try to "blog" more regularly with updates.

Most of the changes are rather dramatic but in the long scheme of things will benefit us the greatest. Here's hoping!

New Year...

So it's 2 days into the new year and good news to report: We've got our "base" savings set and another bill checked off the list, to never return! We've been really gung-ho about getting rid of our debt, following Dave Ramsey's 7 Baby Steps. Finally Craig and I are on the same page about it, and it's already showing. By the end of this first month of the year we should have 2 more bills done and gone and the rest on their way! My car will be paid off in May and I think that's the biggest bill I cannot wait to get rid of!!

Job Hunt

Searching and searching for a job. I'd prefer something that is somewhat creative but it seems there are none around. Tomorrow should be filled with phone calls, trips to retail stores and who knows what else. This is tough. Finally felt like I was on my way and BOOM...a brick wall! My current job security is well...not so secure, the house we wanted is well..getting harder and harder to keep and just seems like every time I come up with a new game plan, something prohibits it from going into effect...or it just backfires on me. Poo!

Halloween & Teach a Friend to Brew

Halloween was fantastic. Things were not as I expected, but it was still a good time had by all. It is always fun to dress up and for the first time we actually had a theme among our costumes. My brother was Shaggy, his wife was Velma, Craig was Freddie, I was Daphne, and our little pup Ginger was Scooby Doo. I was amazed at how little we all spent on our costumes too. We had the majority of the "costumes" in our everyday wardrobes, I bought a belt ($1) and shoes ($8) for my costume and yellow hair spray ($3) was bought for Craig's costume.
